Keys for Life Online prepares students for the road
Keys for Life is a road safety resource for pre-drivers and learner drivers
Resource is widely used in schools. Was enhanced with the release of Keys for Life Online last year
Education Minister Peter Collier and Road Safety Minister Liza Harvey today visited Warwick Senior High School to see how students use Keys for Life Online to prepare for the road, get their learners' permits and earn credit for their Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE).
The school has used the Keys for Life resource for 10 years to help students develop safe driving habits, and was one of the first schools in the State to implement Keys for Life Online.
Mr Collier said schools played an important role in a variety of curriculum areas, one of which was preparing students for life after school.
"We want to ensure every Western Australian child has the best opportunity to succeed in all areas of their lives - this resource is helping to achieve that goal," he said.
"Students can also use Keys for Life Online to get their learners' permits by sitting the online theory test at school rather than at a Driver and Vehicle Services Centre.
"The program can even earn students credit for their WACE."
Mrs Harvey said Keys for Life Online was visual, engaging and flexible.
"The online format makes the resource more accessible as students can log in and read the information anywhere they have access to computers," Mrs Harvey said.
"This allows students to learn at their own pace, so all students benefit from this invaluable resource."
Keys for Life Online was awarded the inaugural Certificate of Appreciation by Western Australian Road Safety Council chairman, Professor Murray Lampard.
