Former Midland Redevelopment Authority CEO appointed to MRA
Crucial time for MRA as it guides redevelopment of metro area
Minister paid tribute to contribution of acting CEO Tony Morgan
Planning Minister John Day today announced that Kieran Kinsella has been appointed to the role of chief executive officer of the recently established Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA).
Mr Day said that Mr Kinsella, formerly chief executive officer of the Midland Redevelopment Authority, would bring to the role considerable experience in planning, development and Government activities.
"Mr Kinsella's experience at the Midland Redevelopment Authority - and in roles with Tourism WA, the Indigenous Land Corporation and the Gascoyne Development Commission - will be invaluable at this crucial time for the MRA," he said.
"The MRA is responsible for delivering some of the most important projects ever seen in Perth and Mr Kinsella will play a central role in the transformation and renewal of the metropolitan area.
"From Elizabeth Quay, Perth City Link and Riverside, to the continued redevelopment of Midland, Armadale and Subiaco, the MRA is one of the key bodies responsible for ensuring Perth is able to meet the needs of, and capitalise on, its expected continued growth."
Mr Kinsella was appointed to the role of CEO following an independent and rigorous selection process conducted by the Public Sector Commission.
The Minister also paid tribute to the role that acting CEO Tony Morgan played in guiding the MRA through its early days.
"Tony Morgan ensured a smooth transition from the operation of four pre-existing redevelopment authorities to the new MRA," he said.
"He also made a substantial contribution to both the redevelopment of Subiaco and East Perth as well as the planning and launch of the Perth City Link project and the revitalisation of Northbridge, to name just a few achievements."
