Thousands of people are expected to enjoy the celebrations of the 11th annual Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival, to be held this Saturday.

Tourism Minister Kim Hames said the popular festival, which was organised by a dedicated group of volunteers, recognised the cultural diversity of Manjimup and coincided with the annual cherry harvest.

"Manjimup is renowned for its local produce such as cherries and truffles, its serene environment, tall karri and jarrah forests and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere," Dr Hames said.

"The festival highlights the unique attractions of the town and features a number of events such as a long table lunch, market stalls, entertainment, food and wine tastings, street theatre and the famous pip spitting competition."

Dr Hames said the State Government was proud to support the Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival through Eventscorp's Regional Events Scheme, which was jointly funded by Royalties for Regions.

"The scheme supports events that add vibrancy to regional Western Australia, increase visitation and attract media attention, providing valuable exposure for the area," he said.

Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls said he was pleased Royalties for Regions funding was supporting this wonderful event in the SuperTown of Manjimup.

"The town is renowned for its production of high-quality agricultural products and is well positioned to become a culinary food destination with the support of $7million in Royalties for Regions funding for its Food Council project," Mr Grylls said.

"This festival is another great example of a town's residents coming together to celebrate what makes their home special and provides a great opportunity to showcase this to others."
