Attorney General's response:

Attorney General Christian Porter has said he will advocate for the relocation of the Kalgoorlie Courthouse to the historic Government offices building on Hannan Street.

Mr Porter said that in a climate of growing financial constraints, the Kalgoorlie-Boulder community is at the forefront of State Government regional investment.

"With $31million already committed to this project, Kalgoorlie is in a strong position to receive significant infrastructure funding over the next four years," Mr Porter said.

"The Liberal-National Government is committed to investing in our regional communities and Kalgoorlie-Boulder is set to reap the rewards."

Mr Porter said he met with the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Council in December last year to hear their views on the Courthouse project.

"What was abundantly clear was that the community is in need of a new Courthouse," Mr Porter said.

"At a time when all projects above $20million are being reviewed by the State Government, a strong factor in Kalgoorlie's favour is the significant and detailed planning and design work that has already gone into the relocation project."
