The first stage of construction of the new Warren Health Service in Manjimup is now complete.

Health Minister John Day said forward works included demolition of the corporate services building and some accommodation blocks of the old hospital, diversion of existing services and preparation of the foundations for the new building.

"The building tender for the main build of the new Warren Health Service has now been released and the contract is due to be awarded in July 2016.  Construction will begin soon after and the hospital is due to be completed by mid-2018," Mr Day said.

"The new hospital will include a state-of-the-art emergency department, an inpatient ward, surgical services, operating theatre, medical imaging, pathology and outpatient, primary health care and other support services."

The new build is part of the State Government's Royalties for Regions investment in the Southern Inland Health Initiative's capital infrastructure program that prioritises new builds and upgrades to 37 hospitals and health services in the Wheatbelt, South-West, Great Southern and Mid-West.

Regional Development Minister Terry Redman said the Liberal National Government's $500 million Southern Inland Health Initiative had been made possible by the Royalties for Regions program and was being delivered by the WA Country Health Service.

"As the Member for Warren-Blackwood, I'm pleased to see this new health facility come to fruition and for the people of Manjimup to be provided with a modern, well-equipped health facility that suit present and future needs," Mr Redman said.

"Royalties for Regions is transforming health care across regional Western Australia.  Regional communities deserve access to a high level of health care and investing in health infrastructure and services can reduce the need for residents to travel to Perth for diagnosis or treatment."
