Minister unveils new building improvements to Narrogin child care centre

Following two years of works, Community Services Minister Robyn McSweeney today unveiled building upgrades worth $395,000 to the Narrogin regional child care centre.

Following two years of works, Community Services Minister Robyn McSweeney today unveiled building upgrades worth $395,000 to the Narrogin regional child care centre.

Extensions to the centre were identified by the local community as demand for child care services during the past several years had increased.

The upgrades include the building of a new room especially for the care of babies; construction of two new outdoor areas; and new equipment, including fridges, microwaves, high chairs and toys, to complete the overall transformation of the building.

Mrs McSweeney outlined the many advantages the improved child care facility would bring to the local area, including an additional 15 places for children aged 0-5 years.

"Through the funding and donations of the State Government and local community, the vision of extending the Narrogin regional child care centre has now become a reality," she said.

"Many families who have previously been unable to access child care services in Narrogin will now be able to do so.

"The additional services will also give parents and carers more choices and flexibility of care options that may not have been available prior to the upgrades.

"Parents will have greater scope to pursue studies, employment, volunteering, personal development, or simply take some time out for themselves.

"This is a good outcome for the entire community and it is rewarding to be able to officially open the upgraded centre."

Lotterywest, along with the Narrogin Town Council and local businesses, were the major contributors of funding for the renovations and extensions.
