Minister welcomes election of City of Cockburn mayor
Local Government Minister John Castrilli has welcomed the election of Logan Howlett as the new mayor of the City of Cockburn.
Mr Castrilli said that after a protracted process, his main concern was that the people of the City of Cockburn once again had effective leadership.
"The events that have recently befallen Cockburn are now a thing of the past," he said.
"The former mayor, Stephen Lee, had his opportunity to put his case to the people by seeking re-election and the people decided accordingly. Their decision is to be respected.
"I wish Mr Howlett the very best of luck in his time as mayor. It is an important honour for anyone to represent their local community in such a role.
"I look forward to working with him and having the opportunity to discuss the important issue of local government reform."
