Mirvac to build new apartments at Claremont on the Park

Homes to accommodate more than 350 people at two apartment sites at Claremont on the Park will soon be built after national property group Mirvac was named the proponent for the development.

Homes to accommodate more than 350 people at two apartment sites at Claremont on the Park will soon be built after national property group Mirvac was named the proponent for the development.

Lands Minister Terry Redman said Mirvac was chosen to develop the project after a rigorous selection process in which a number of high quality submissions were received from local and interstate developers.

"LandCorp undertook a lengthy assessment process to ensure the developer of the two sites would deliver the best standard of medium density urban design as well as quality facilities and accommodation for future residents," Mr Redman said.

"Mirvac's proposal delivered on the objectives for achieving a high quality architectural design and sustainable living which contribute to the Oval and streetscape activation."

The two apartment buildings will provide a minimum of 178 new apartments in a sought after location, within walking distance of Claremont's town centre and railway station. It will have views of Claremont Oval at the heart of the precinct.

The Minister said Claremont on the Park was one of a number of urban renewal projects being delivered by LandCorp to help address Western Australia's growing demand for more diverse housing by rejuvenating underutilised areas within established suburbs.

"Claremont on the Park will ultimately provide more than 700 new homes for more than 1,000 people. We need to provide more diverse housing to meet the needs of our changing population and we need to provide this housing where infrastructure currently exists."

Claremont on the Park supports the State Government's Directions 2031 and Beyond strategy to address WA's rapid population growth and urban sprawl.

Claremont on the Park is on a 9.4ha site north of the rail line and bounded by Graylands, Davies and Lapsley roads and will be a mix of residential, commercial and recreational spaces.
