Multiple land releases on the way for Karratha
- 55 house and land packages released in Baynton West
- Diverse residential opportunities coming by mid-year
State Government-agency LandCorp today released 55 house and land packages at Baynton West in the first of several residential land releases set to occur in Karratha this year.
A total of 17 builders already active within the Baynton West Estate have been allocated a number of lots to develop house and land packages.
Lands Minister Brendon Grylls said with house and land packages starting from just $600,000 this release was designed to ensure home buyers have access to houses at competitive prices.
"The majority of the lots will be sold exclusively to local Karratha purchasers who have not previously owned land at Baynton West," Mr Grylls said.
"It is also particularly pleasing to see four of the builders are local Karratha businesses, because a major part of the Pilbara Cities vision is to support and nurture small to medium enterprises to create a more robust local economy."
With 13 of the 17 builders currently exhibiting in the Pilbara Display Village within Baynton West, prospective homebuyers have the added benefit of being able to see first-hand the types of housing choices on offer.
The Minister said this diversity of housing choice would be invaluable as more residential land options came onto the Karratha market later in the year.
"To follow on from the success of Baynton West, the first 100 of about 1,000 lots will be available at Madigan Road by the end of 2012," he said.
"OTAN will commence construction mid-year on the first 100 of 220 residential lots at the 24ha Nickol Estate."
In addition, by mid-2012, Finbar is set to complete 291 residential apartments and 3,500sqm of commercial space known as the Pelago; Karratha Consortium is starting construction on a 10-hectare site at Tambrey with 8,100sqm for small supermarket, medical centre, specialty shops and short-stay apartments; and the Alcock Brown Neaves Group is delivering about 80 homes on 5.3066ha of surplus land from the Tambrey Primary School.
