New Craigie Heights Primary School fast becoming a community hub

Education Minister Liz Constable today officially opened the $11.

Education Minister Liz Constable today officially opened the $11.7million Craigie Heights Primary School in Spinaway Street, Craigie.

Dr Constable said Craigie Heights Primary School was the result of an amalgamation of Craigie and Camberwarra primary schools, a process which began in 2007.

"Craigie's newest primary school is fast becoming a community hub for parents and their children in the area," she said.

"The school opened its doors to students this February and provides an excellent learning environment for students and staff."

It includes an early childhood block; designated learning areas for lower, middle and upper primary students; an undercover assembly area and canteen; administration block; library and a dental therapy unit.

There are also specialist learning areas for music, arts and science.

"The science learning area includes aquariums and a range of equipment to engage students thoroughly in their lessons," the Minister said.

"The school has many exciting programs planned including a focus on sustainability through a vegetable garden and worm farms, and specialist screening for students' speech abilities."

Dr Constable said the new Craigie Heights Primary School currently had 315 students from kindergarten to year 7.

"Participation from the community has been integral in the formation of this new school," she said.

"Harmony, building strong relationships and a focus on pastoral care are all characteristics of Craigie Heights Primary School."
