Robert Mitchell SC appointed as Supreme Court Judge

Deputy State Solicitor Robert Mitchell SC has been appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court from today.
Attorney General Michael Mischin said the appointment would fill the vacancy left by Justice Christopher Pullin.
Mr Mischin said Mr Mitchell was an experienced lawyer who would be a welcome addition to the court.
"Mr Mitchell is a highly regarded legal practitioner and has appeared on a number of occasions on behalf of the State, intervening in matters before the High Court," he said.
"He also served on the Law Reform Commission of Western Australia from 2007 to 2011."
Mr Mitchell completed his Bachelor of Laws in in 1991 and concluded his articles in the then Crown Solicitor's Office.
He was admitted as a practitioner of the Supreme Court in 1991 and to the High Court of Australia in 1992.
Mr Mitchell completed a Master of Laws with distinction at The University of WA in 1997.
