New buildings welcome at Maida Vale school
- New administration building and classroom block
$5.44 million upgrade includes new facilities for staff and students
Four new classrooms and a fresh and modern administration building will benefit the steadily increasing student population at Maida Vale Primary School.
Education Minister Peter Collier today officially opened the $5.44 million State Government-funded upgrade.
Mr Collier said the school now had a welcoming entrance fitting for its focus on the visual arts.
"The new administration building has given the school a modern look and the new classrooms will cater for the increase in students, providing them with programs in music, visual arts and Italian," he said.
"There is a new canteen in the covered assembly area, a new car park and gardeners' facilities.
"The old buildings have been refurbished to include a staff room, offices for teachers, a conference room for parents and staff, and rooms for student services."
With more housing developments opening in the Maida Vale area, the school expects to welcome many new families during the next four years.
The Minister said the upgrades would prepare the school as strong relationships with the community and outstanding education programs attracted more students.
