New head of Challenger Institute appointed

• Terry Durant appointed as managing director for five-year term

The State Government has appointed Ms Terry Durant as managing director of the Challenger Institute of Technology, which has 23,000 students at 10 sites.

Welcoming her to the role, Acting Training and Workforce Development Minister John Day said Ms Durant had a wealth of experience in the training, tax and banking sectors.

"Ms Durant has been acting in the managing director role at Challenger and I am pleased she can continue her good work in a permanent capacity," Mr Day said.

Ms Durant began her career in the training sector at Swan TAFE - now known as Polytechnic West - and held senior positions at the Australian Taxation Office and the banking sector.

Mr Day said Ms Durant would be at the helm of a distinguished organisation at Challenger.

"Challenger Institute of Technology equips about 23,000 students a year with the best skills to get them a job in the industries driving our economy," he said.

Mr Day said the institute had been recognised with multiple awards and had four major campuses across the wider metropolitan area.
