New housing choices for Kwinana
- Lend Lease and LandCorp to partner in Kwinana residential development
- Up to 170 new homes for Kwinana in different styles
- Diversity of housing types near community facilities, public transport
A new partnering agreement will see former Education Department land close to the Kwinana Town Centre transformed into a modern, housing precinct.
Lands Minister Brendon Grylls announced that LandCorp had entered into a development agreement with international property and infrastructure company Lend Lease to develop land at Kwinana that would provide up to 170 new homes.
"The development site is vacant land and expected to yield a range of living options that include grouped housing, apartments, terrace houses and free-standing dwellings as well as a 7,000sqm park," Mr Grylls said.
"Kwinana's newest development fits with the State Government's planning policy Directions 2031 and Beyond providing density close to community facilities and connected to public transport.
"The Town of Kwinana is growing rapidly and continues to provide new modern facilities delivering the lifestyle opportunities expected today."
The Minister said the nearby Kwinana Industrial Area provided almost 5,000 direct jobs and 26,000 indirect jobs and with more than 60 per cent of workers living in the immediate catchment area, the new housing development will be welcomed.
"LandCorp's partnering approach helps combine the resources and capacity of two organisations bringing greater innovation and more creative outcomes," he said.
"This partnering development will be a further catalyst for the town's growth following last year's State Government's provision of up to $6million towards revitalisation of the Kwinana Town Centre."
