Major works in the South-West town of Brunswick Junction have created a new look for the town.

Visitors and locals alike will be able to enjoy Brunswick Junction's new look and atmosphere now that major streetscape works in the town are complete.

Officially launched today by Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls, the townscape improvement project has transformed Brunswick Junction with upgrades that successfully preserve the unique character of the South-West dairying town.

"Funding of $383,000 through the State Government's Royalties for Regions program has been used to create a civic hub called 'The Junction', new businesses have opened, landscaping carried out and underground power and new lighting has been installed," Mr Grylls said

Dairy-themed signs and new playground equipment have also been installed, with enhanced parking rounding off the list of improvements.

The Minister said the facelift was expected to help attract tourists, encourage investment and create new job opportunities for local people.

"The project has beautified the main streets of Brunswick and created a vibrant atmosphere with markets today creating a buzz about the town," he said.

"I would like to congratulate the South West Development Commission, Shire of Harvey and other stakeholders on their efforts in creating new opportunities for the town's future.

"The commission plays a role in many urban renewal projects across the region and it is heartening to see how funding support can help plans like this make the leap from paper to reality.

"I look forward to seeing the next stage of the project, which involves the establishment of a 'Moo-seum' and associated dairy hall of fame."
