Youth Minister Donna Faragher, accompanied by Premier Colin Barnett, today opened a $2.

Youth Minister Donna Faragher, accompanied by Premier Colin Barnett, today opened a $2.5million state-of-the-art refurbished Youth Focus building in Burswood.

"The State Government through the Department of Communities' Office of the Youth values its association with Youth Focus, and the strong partnership that has been forged to support young people in need," Mrs Faragher said.

Youth Focus, a Western Australian community-based organisation, supported young people aged from 12 to 18, who are showing early signs of suicide, depression and self harm. The families of these youths were also provided support.

The new building provided counselling rooms with a warm, non-institution feel, and facilities for family therapy, peer support and mentoring.

"It is an exceptional facility that will play a big role in assisting young people and their families tackle serious mental wellbeing issues," the Minister said.

The building's refurbishment was supported by extensive fundraising and contributions from Hawaiian Pty Ltd, the Jack Bendat Foundation, Woodside Energy, Redink Homes, Mirvac, Argonaut Capital, Change Corporation, Luke and Maree Saraceni, and Lotterywest.
