Planning has started on $30million worth of infill projects to connect to the central wastewater system more than 2,000 lots in parts of Mandurah, City Beach, Esperance and Geraldton.

Water Minister Bill Marmion said residents in 10 infill project areas would receive notification and information from the Water Corporation about the program and what it would involve before works commenced in their area.

"Infill sewerage is a system of buried sewer pipes that takes wastewater away from residential properties for safe, healthy processing and disposal," Mr Marmion said.

"I'm pleased to be announcing the next stage of the Infill Sewerage Program, which will have a positive effect on public health and the environment.  There is also the additional benefit of assisting with development and increasing land values."

When the program has been completed, more than 100,000 households across Western Australia will have access to central wastewater systems, which reduces leach drain run-off to the environment.

The Infill Sewerage Program is administered by the Water Corporation and funded by the State Government's $100million Infill Sewerage Program.
