Pinjarra Community Resource Centre opening

The Pinjarra Community Resource Centre (CRC) has officially opened its doors becoming the 107th CRC to provide a wide range of services to benefit regional communities.

The Pinjarra Community Resource Centre (CRC) has officially opened its doors becoming the 107th CRC to provide a wide range of services to benefit regional communities.

Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls said the Pinjarra CRC, funded through the State Government's Royalties for Regions program, would operate from Murray House.

"Murray House, which became a Registered Training Organisation in 2000, is providing employment of trainees through the CRC Trainee Support program to help create pathways to employment for regional people while building capacity within the Community Resource Network," Mr Grylls said.

"The Pinjarra CRC is one of only two organisations in Western Australia that are both a Community Resource Centre and a Registered Training Organisation."

Royalties for Regions' funding for the Pinjarra CRC will support the delivery of a range of initiatives to enhance access to government information and services.

"The Pinjarra CRC provides access to government information and services free of charge with a designated area decked out with the latest IT," the Minister said.

Access to video conferencing has always been paramount to CRC operations and Royalties for Regions' funding will provide upgraded video conferencing infrastructure, IT support and development.

"The Pinjarra CRC is embracing the free simulcasts being broadcast through Westlink and is planning to hold an event for the upcoming broadcast of William Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'," Mr Grylls said.

Additional funding will support the delivery of a range of new initiatives which will help build capacity within the community.
