  • Providing access road to aged care facility for Mid-West

Port Denison and surrounding Mid-West residents are set to benefit from the building of Henry Road, which will provide access and parking to a new residential aged care facility.

Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls said Henry Road would be built on Crown land, which would be vested to the aged care facility developers, Global Care Group Incorporated.

"Construction of Henry Road is part of the Shire of Irwin's contribution to provide a much-needed aged care facility, providing residents with care and support services in their community," Mr Grylls said.

The road will be completed thanks to support from the State Government's Royalties for Regions 2011-12 Country Local Government Fund (CLGF).

The CLGF funding of $246,077 gives the shire the means to complete stage two of the road, which includes the final asphalt seal, drainage, street lighting, signs, line marking, street levelling, parking and pathways.

"Henry Road will provide access for the facility and enable residents to remain close to the support and comfort of their families," the Minister said.

"It is essential for Government to support projects that deliver key services to all members of the community."
