Primary school opens in booming Baldivis

One of three new primary schools to open in the next three years in the area
Families in Baldivis will benefit from a new $18.8 million primary school which was officially opened today by Education Minister Peter Collier.
Tuart Rise Primary School opened its doors to 383 students from kindergarten to Year 6 when school started this week. Enrolments are expected to increase to more than 800 students by the end of 2016.
Mr Collier said the high number of people applying for positions at the Independent Public School showed the impression it had made on the community.
"More than 750 job applications were received from teachers and support staff across Western Australia interested in working at this exciting new school," he said.
"Tuart Rise Primary School now boasts a staff of graduates and highly experienced teachers from Derby to Bridgetown, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge."
The school includes 10 general classrooms, a library resource centre, an art room, a covered assembly area with canteen, a music room, and a dental therapy unit.
The Minister said specialist music and physical education teachers were also employed at the school, and an onsite care facility, operated by organisation Camp Australia, would run out of school hours to support working families.
