Professor Lyn Beazley inducted into WA Science Hall of Fame
Premier and Science Minister Colin Barnett tonight unveiled Professor Lyn Beazley's citation on the Western Australian Science Hall of Fame at Scitech.
Speaking at the induction, Mr Barnett acknowledged Professor Beazley's services to the State, including her dedication to the role of Chief Scientist of Western Australia from 2006 until 2013.
"Professor Beazley's ability to connect people in the science community is well recognised," he said.
"She has been a passionate ambassador for Western Australian science and I thank her for her tremendous commitment to the advancement of the field in this State."
The celebration was attended by His Excellency Malcolm McCusker AC CVO QC and a range of guests with whom Professor Beazley has worked closely over her career.
The Premier said the Hall of Fame was an important avenue to recognise outstanding scientists and raise the profile of science in society.
Professor Beazley's inclusion to the Hall of Fame, announced by Mr Barnett in November 2013, joins those of previous inductees including Professor Fiona Stanley AC and Nobel Laureates Professor Barry Marshall AC and Dr Robin Warren AC.
