West Australians can now choose from new range of PlatesWA personalised plates
Plates can easily be designed and purchased online at www.plateswa.com.au
Portion of plate sales goes to WA Police community service projects
Two new ranges of vehicle registration plates are now available to West Australians who are keen to express their individuality through their car, Transport Minister Dean Nalder said today.
"Forty years ago, WA's rego plates read 'State of Excitement' and were little more than a vehicle identifier," Mr Nalder said.
"As cars have progressed, so has the ability for the Department of Transport (DoT) to keep up with demand to allow people to express themselves through personalised number plates."
The Minister said DoT vehicle registrations showed that more than 649,910 West Australians had optional plates issued since they became available in August 1975.
"While personalised plates are most popular with West Australians aged 43-50, the oldest person in WA with a personalised plate is aged 102," he said.
Mr Nalder said the two new plates ranges would allow vehicle enthusiasts to flaunt their individuality via a variety of vibrant hues.
The Minister said the 'Intense' range offered nine colours and different character combinations to give customers a choice in creating a first impression through their rego plates.
The new 'Design' range, also available from today, provides a more affordable option.
"In addition to providing a unique way to express yourself, the sale of personalised plates benefits the community as DoT contributes a portion of the revenue raised from PlatesWA sales to WA Police community service projects," Mr Nalder said.
