Rediscover Cape Range for free

Environment Minister Bill Marmion today announced a free park day for Cape Range National Park on the Labour Day long weekend (March 5-7).

Environment Minister Bill Marmion today announced a free park day for Cape Range National Park on the Labour Day long weekend (March 5-7).  Entry into the park will be free on the Monday (March 7).

The initiative is part of the Rediscover Parks campaign which is looking at new ways of encouraging people to enjoy their 119 national, regional and marine parks.

"This is a great opportunity for residents and visitors alike to experience the extraordinary natural wonders of one of the State's best-known visitor destinations," Mr Marmion said.

In recent years, the State Government has invested $1.3million in the Exmouth area resulting in road improvements and facilities upgrades at Yardie Creek, Coral Bay and Turquoise Bay.

Carnarvon and Exmouth residents can get great value from a local park pass for $20 which provides unlimited entry into Cape Range National Park.

Other travellers can buy an annual, all-park pass which provides entry to all parks in Western Australia for 12 months for $80.

Passes can be bought from the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) by phoning 9219 8000 or by visiting DEC's website at http://www.dec.wa.gov.au
