Senior expansion at Baldivis Secondary College
- Stage 2 extensions worth $25.3 million, now complete
- Senior students to study in world-class facilities
Baldivis Secondary College is ready for its first intake of Year 11s, with a major suite of new learning facilities opened to accommodate senior students.
Education Minister Peter Collier said the $25.3 million second stage included a dedicated arts area, physical education building and state-of-the-art lecture theatre.
"Since opening in 2013, Baldivis Secondary College has developed a strong reputation for providing high-quality learning opportunities," Mr Collier said.
"As the foundation students prepare to enter Year 11, they will benefit from outstanding new facilities and courses."
The new facilities include 16 general classrooms, an inclusive education classroom, digital media laboratory, staff offices, interview rooms, and more parking bays.
"There is also a dedicated arts building with studios for television and audio recording, dance and music, along with space for ceramics, visual arts and printmaking," the Minister said.
The college has opened a cricket academy this year, which will be further strengthened by a fitness centre and new cricket nets.
Mr Collier said the State Government was responding to the extraordinary population growth in Baldivis.
"In addition to this expansion, we are opening two new primary schools in the area in 2016 and 2017, and a new secondary school will open in South Baldivis in 2019," he said.
