Specialist project management team appointed to waterfront project
Planning Minister John Day has announced the appointment of a specialist project management company Appian Group Pty Ltd to the Perth Waterfront project.
"Another important milestone in the delivery of the Perth Waterfront development has been reached with Appian Group's appointment to the project team," Mr Day said
"Appian Group has significant experience in major development projects in Western Australia and will help drive key outcomes for Perth Waterfront. Their appointment comes at an important juncture in the life of the project as representatives of the WA Planning Commission prepare to promote it next week at the Australia New Zealand Pacific Hotel International Conference (ANZPHIC) in Sydney.
"Planning is proceeding at full pace in preparation for commencement of substantial earthworks on the site due to start early next year.
"The Perth Waterfront brings to the market major opportunities for investors in the business and tourism markets and the exposure it will receive at ANZPHIC will help to attract significant investment opportunities into Western Australia.
"The project will provide for 1,700 residential, hotels and serviced apartments, 150,000 metres square of office space and 39,000 metres square of retail space and will be key in triggering short-stay accommodation development in Perth to cater for this growth.
"WA already has sound economic credentials through major resources projects, however, investment in the business and tourism sectors would help ensure it remains a diverse, dynamic and multi-layered place in the long-term."
The waterfront development is due for completion by the end of 2014.
