Thousands of spectators are expected to visit Langley Park this weekend for an air show involving more than 100 sport aircraft.

Tourism Minister Kim Hames said Langley Park would relive its former glory days as Perth's first airfield for the Sport Aircraft Association of Australia's Langley Park Fly-in.

"The aircraft will fly up the Swan River from Serpentine and land at Langley Park this morning," Dr Hames said.

"About 20,000 spectators are expected to attend the event over the weekend to witness extraordinary aerial displays by a variety of experimental, vintage, commercial and military aircraft, including aerobatic performances by Australia's former Red Bull Air Race pilot Matt Hall.

"Crowds will have an opportunity to meet Matt and other pilots on the day, as well as watch a low fly over by a Boeing BA146 jet, water bombing display and many other amazing acts."

The aircraft will depart Langley Park on Sunday afternoon.

The event is organised by the Sport Aircraft Association of Australia and sponsored by Eventscorp, the City of Perth, Lotterywest and Healthway.

The Langley Park Fly-in coincides with the Telethon weekend.  Entry to the event is free with a gold coin donation encouraged to support Telethon.
