Former Telstra Businesswoman of the Year for WA joins board
Hotel owner and proprietor of Sandalford Wines, Peter Prendiville, has been reappointed as chairman of the board of Tourism Western Australia.
Tourism Minister Kim Hames said Mr Prendiville, who had more than 35 years' experience in tourism, hospitality and events, had made a valuable contribution to the industry in Western Australia since he was appointed to the board in September 2011.
Dr Hames said Howard Cearns, founder of Little Creatures Brewing Pty Ltd, would continue on as deputy chairman for another year.
"Peter and Howard are respected and experienced businessmen and their contribution to the tourism industry is extensive," he said.
"It is great news for the State's tourism industry that Peter has agreed to continue in the role as chairman until 2015 and Howard as deputy until 2014."
The Minister also announced that former Telstra Businesswoman of the Year, Valerie Davies had been appointed to the board.
"Valerie is the managing director of One.2.One Communications, which specialises in issues management and corporate communications advice," Dr Hames said.
"She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in destination marketing having sat on the Tourism Australia board and as a current sitting board member of Amalgamated Holdings Limited, whose brands include Rydges Hotels and Resorts, Event Cinemas and Greater Union."
Current board members Nathan Harding, owner and group managing director of Discover Australia Holidays, and Perth Racing CEO Stephen Wicks, have had their terms extended for a further two years and one year respectively.
