Upgrade for Two Rocks Marina
- $1.17 million upgrade for Two Rocks Marina
Upgrades to parking, widening of the boat launching area and a new floating jetty will boost safety and capacity
Works to start this month and be completed this year
Work starts this month on improvements at Two Rocks Marina to address safety concerns and ease delays for skippers launching vessels.
Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the $1.17 million State Government upgrade, to be carried out in two stages, would be welcome news for the large number of marina users.
Since assuming short-term operational management of the facility last November, the Department of Transport has been working with local stakeholders and marina users to develop a work plan to improve operations at the increasingly busy site.
Mr Nalder said work was scheduled to start this month on repairs and maintenance to the boat trailer parking area and the approach to the boat launching ramp.
The second stage of the upgrade will see the launching ramps widened to two lanes and a central 50 metre floating jetty installed. Work will be carried out to realign the revetment wall, provide an access path, install solar lighting and upgrade the signage.
"The two stages of work are expected to be completed before the end of the year giving users access to a greatly improved facility," the Minister said.
The work is funded under the Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme.
