Western Australia's biggest country music festival is set to entertain thousands of music lovers with an impressive line-up of performers and events.

Tourism Minister Kim Hames said the Boyup Brook Country Music Festival was the longest running country music festival in the State and had grown from a single day event 26 years ago, to now a five-day celebration.

"The 2011 event will see well-known artists such as Troy Cassar-Daley, Felicity Urquhart and Peter Denahy take to the stage," Dr Hames said.

"It will also feature big ticket events such as the West Australian Country Music Awards, Boyup Ute and Truck Muster, a street carnival and the West Australian Bush Poets breakfast and awards."

Eventscorp has provided funding towards the festival through the State Government's Regional Events Scheme. The $300,000 Regional Events Scheme supports new and established regional events that will showcase WA as a vibrant tourism destination.

The Minister said the State Government was committed to supporting regional events as they built a sense of community pride, added vibrancy to a region and provided an economic boost through visitor spending.

"The Boyup Brook Country Music Festival is a major event in the area and has immense support and involvement from the community," he said.

"More than 15,000 locals and interstate visitors are expected to enjoy the festival over the five-day period.

"These visitors will not only experience the region's passion for country music, but also all the other extraordinary experiences it has to offer."

The Boyup Brook Country Music Festival runs from February 16 until February 20, 2011.  For more information visit http://www.countrymusicwa.com.au
