WA Electoral Commissioner appointed

Electoral Affairs Minister Peter Collier today announced the appointment of David Kerslake as the new Western Australian Electoral Commissioner.

Electoral Affairs Minister Peter Collier today announced the appointment of David Kerslake as the new Western Australian Electoral Commissioner.

"David has a long record of public service at senior levels, with extensive experience in electoral administration," Mr Collier said.

Mr Kerslake was the Queensland State Electoral Commissioner from 2006 to 2013. 

He served as Health Rights Commissioner in Queensland from 2002 to 2006 and was the Director of the Health and Disability Complaints Commission in Western Australia from 1997 to 2002. 

He worked for the Australian Electoral Commission from 1994 to 1997.

The Minister thanked Chris Avent for his service as Acting Electoral Commissioner since the resignation of former Commissioner Warwick Gately in April 2013.
