This year's finalists in the WA Industry and Export Awards program were recognised at a certificate presentation breakfast this morning held at Kings Park.

Commerce Minister Michael Mischin praised the group for their dedication and commitment to excellence in all aspects of the supply chain, meticulous customer service and meeting stringent import and compliance regulations.

Mr Mischin also recognised companies which had served local markets and achieved outstanding performance despite difficulties in recent years relating to the global financial crisis.

"These businesses have contributed to the economic development of this State and I am pleased there is an avenue to recognise their contribution," he said.

"The awards are one of Australia's most well-regarded industry accolades which can open doors for winners and provide opportunities for growth in national and overseas markets."

The 2014 Industry and Export Awards cover 15 categories, including agribusiness, marketing and design, minerals and energy, biotechnology and small business.

The State category award winners will be announced on Friday, October 24, along with the prestigious Premier's Award for overall excellence.

Winners of the export categories automatically become finalists in the 2014 national Australian Export Awards.

The awards program is sponsored by ANZ, AusIndustry, Austrade, Chevron, Efic, Fremantle Ports, Rio Tinto, The West Australian and its regional newspapers and the State Government through the Department of Commerce, which co-ordinates the program.
