Applying for a WA Seniors Card is now easier than ever, with the launch of a dedicated website making online applications available for the first time.

Seniors and Volunteering Minister Tony Simpson said the My WA Seniors Card website would cut red tape for the thousands of people joining the WA Seniors Card program in Western Australia every year.

"From today, our seniors can apply for their WA Seniors Card using a computer, smart phone or tablet device," Mr Simpson said.

"During the coming weeks, they will also be able to check their Cost of Living Payments, change their bank and personal details and access the latest information on discounts from more than 500 participating businesses.

The Minister said more businesses would soon be able to promote to WA Seniors Card members by listing on the 'My WA Seniors Card' website and making offers available to members.

"The State Government recognises it must communicate effectively with all seniors.

The move to online applications is recognition more and more people, regardless of their age, expect to have the latest State Government information at their fingertips," he said.

Mr Simpson said the My WA Seniors Card would also enable WA Seniors Card members access to news regarding State Government concessions and a monthly competition.

The Minister was speaking at Have a Go Day, one of the key events of Seniors Week taking place from November 8-15, with more than 15,000 expected to attend throughout the day.

Homage was paid to fallen servicemen and women as part of Remembrance Day commemorations with the laying of a wreath, and a minute's silence was also observed.

This week almost 80 Seniors Week events, funded by $80,000 in State Government and Lotterywest grants, are taking place in WA.

On November 12 from noon, Northbridge Piazza will come alive to the sounds of the '50s and '60s for a Seniors Week lunchtime concert.
