Water Corporation bills two-monthly from July

Water Corporation customers will receive their water account every two months under changes coming into effect from July 1, 2013.

  • New bills will combine water use and service charges
  • Charges to be spread evenly over six bills throughout the year

  • Customers can manage account online through My Water

Water Corporation customers will receive their water account every two months under changes coming into effect from July 1, 2013.

The move to two-monthly billing will make payments more manageable for customers by spreading annual costs across six bills, instead of larger bills distributed less often.

Water Minister Terry Redman said issuing smaller, more manageable bills would help customers track their water use and detect leaks earlier, which would help reduce overall water consumption.

"Previously, service charges were issued once a year in July, which was a large bill for customers to pay all at once, plus they would also receive separate bills for their water use charges," Mr Redman said.

The Minister said the first account customers receive in July would be lower than previous July bills but higher than future two-monthly accounts as it may include up to six months' worth of water use.

"Customers will receive a transition bill in July to bring everyone in line with the new billing cycle," he said.

"This could include up to six months' worth of water use and the service charges for July and August. Therefore this first bill is not a true reflection of what following bills will be.

"I encourage customers to familiarise themselves with their new bill and sign up to Water Corporation's self-service website, My Water.

"Here customers can set up direct debit and paperless billing for effortless payments of two-monthly bills."
