Wheatbelt health planning initiative
A unique regional partnership to improve health services has been formed in the Wheatbelt.
Known as the Wheatbelt Health MOU Group, it comprises the Wheatbelt Development Commission (WDC) in collaboration with the three Western Australian Local Government Association zones in the Wheatbelt, WA Country Health Service - Wheatbelt and the Wheatbelt General Practice Network.
Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls said $100,000 in State Government funding, as part of the Wheatbelt Regional Development Scheme, had been granted to the MOU Group, which was overseeing the Wheatbelt Health Planning Initiative.
"These funds will be used to engage a consultant to undertake an extensive and independent review of all Health Services within the Wheatbelt," Mr Grylls said.
"The outcomes will then be used to provide a comprehensive report that identifies key direction and requirements for future health service planning."
The Wheatbelt Health MOU Group will become the driving force for positive change in health service delivery and will work to ensure issues are actioned appropriately and through correct channels.
"The project presents a real opportunity for the WDC and the Liberal-National Government to encourage community and regional co-operation and reward collaborative effort," the Minister said.
"The partnership includes other regional groups, further providing a catalyst to regional co-operation."
The project has gained in-kind support from all parties involved in the Wheatbelt Health MOU Group.
The total cost of the project is $160,000.
