Work to start on State Netball Centre
- Contractor announced for the State Netball Centre
Balcatta-based PS Structures awarded contract
Construction will soon start on the new State Netball Centre with the building contract awarded to local company PS Structures.
Sport and Recreation Minister Terry Waldron said the centre would be built at Matthews Netball Centre in Jolimont and integrated into the Wembley Sports Park.
"The State Government has awarded the construction for the project to PS Structures with a successful tender of $18.6million," Mr Waldron said.
"We're excited that this project has moved to the next stage. Netball is a hugely popular sport and will finally get its long-awaited venue, which will be a centre of excellence for both competition and skills development.
"The State Netball Centre will be a modern, world-class facility where WA's aspiring netballers can develop and showcase their high-performance skills.
"It will be another exciting addition to the sporting landscape of Western Australia."
The centre will provide a venue for state league netball competition, West Coast Fever training, development squads and community netball activities.
Facilities include:
four indoor netball courts
nine competitor change room facilities
facilities for West Coast Fever
spectator seating for 1,050 people
Netball WA offices
a kiosk facility

It is anticipated construction will commence in August and be completed in the third quarter of 2014
The award-winning Balcatta-based PS Structures has worked on projects including Perth Domestic Airport, Burswood Entertainment Centre and Rossmoyne Senior High School Science & Technology Centre
