YMCA reaps nearly $150,000 for upgrades

- Money to be used for property upgrades at YMCA centres
Charity organisation YMCA of Perth Youth and Community Services today received nearly $150,000 of Lotterywest funds.
Youth and Community Services Minister Robyn McSweeney presented the $149,390 cheque to the organisation at YMCA's Leederville headquarters.
"I would like to offer my congratulations to YMCA Perth on their successful grant application to Lotterywest," Mrs McSweeney said.
"As Minister for Youth it is a priority of my department, the Department for Communities, to support programs and services that provide young people with the skills and confidence to deal with the transition into adulthood."
The Minister said the partnership between YMCA and the Department for Communities was highly valued
"For example, YMCA is co-chairing the Mentoring Reform Group, which through the support of the department, is working to improve the quality of mentoring available to young people in Western Australia," she said.
The funds will be used to purchase much-needed equipment, furniture and technology, as well as to make property improvements to the YMCA headquarters in Leederville and YMCA's Albany facility.
