Claremont Oval redevelopment kicks off
- Works soon to begin on redevelopment surrounding Claremont Oval
- EOI to be called for developer of first apartment building
Works will soon get under way in Claremont at Perth's newest State Government-led urban infill development.
Known as Claremont on the Park, the development will be located around Claremont Football Club's home ground, Claremont Oval.
Lands Minister Brendon Grylls said, once fully developed, the 9.4ha Claremont on the Park would bring a new dimension to the well-established suburb.
"The first stage in the north-west corner of the site will see residential development providing up to 77 apartments," Mr Grylls said.
"The State Government, through LandCorp, is calling for expressions of interest (EOI) to identify a suitable development partner for the 3,251sqm first stage lot."
The Minister said with so much current national focus on Western Australia's growth, he expected a high level of interest from developers nationwide.
"Claremont on the Park will provide the community with excellent public transport links as well as being close to schools, shopping and sporting facilities which are second to none," he said.
"The good news for football fans is the Claremont Football Club will benefit from a new facility as a result of the Government's support of $16.5million towards rebuilding.
"The development of Claremont on the Park is in line with the Government's Directions 2031 and Activity Centre policy."
