About 100 students, including 80 local students, have enrolled to start high school at the state-of-the-art $21million Cape Naturaliste College next year.
Visiting the site today, Education and Training Minister Mark McGowan met the first student to enrol, 12-year-old Alysha French, and viewed potential designs for the school's logo and uniform.
"Parents, community members and school representatives have been busy developing these designs," Mr McGowan said.
"Students from local schools sketched their ideas for the new middle school logo and a local graphic designer used these illustrations to come up with five possible logos."
The Minister said the school uniform and logos were circulating around the three feeder primary schools in the area, with survey forms for parents and students to make a comment or suggestion.
A final decision will be made by the end of the month.
Cape Naturaliste College is located on more than eight hectares in Yallingup Siding Road, Vasse, and is designed to ultimately cater for 500 students in Years Eight to 10.
Mr McGowan said the school would have specialty rooms for visual arts, food and design technology and science laboratories.
"The new school will also have two open plan, multifunctional classroom areas," he said.
The Minister said South-West schooling was set for a major boost with more than $90million being spent on upgrading and building schools in the South-West region.
The new school is scheduled for completion at the end of the year.
