David Axworthy withdraws from Curriculum Council position
28/7/06
Education and Training Minister Ljiljanna Ravlich has expressed disappointment that David Axworthy, acting chief executive officer of the Curriculum Council, has withdrawn from the selection process for the permanent CEO position.
Ms Ravlich said Mr Axworthy had withdrawn because of unanticipated family issues.
"I understand this was a very difficult decision for David to make," Ms Ravlich said.
"David took on the role at a very difficult time and I have been impressed by his professionalism, dedication and leadership of the Curriculum Council.
"As acting CEO, David has been instrumental in listening to, and acting on, the concerns of teachers during the implementation of the new courses of study.
"I wish David and his family the very best."
Ms Ravlich said she was pleased Mr Axworthy would stay on as acting CEO until an appointment was made.
