National Youth Week 2007 (April14 - 22) was officially launched last Saturday and to celebrate, Western Australia's young people have the chance to take a friend to the movies to see Disney's 'Meet the Robinsons' for free.
Youth Minister Ljiljanna Ravlich said National Youth Week gave people of all ages the opportunity to acknowledge the valuable contribution made by young people to the community.
"While many of the activities held during National Youth Week provide our youth with opportunities to showcase their talents and express their views, the week is also about having fun, which is why we are supporting this 'buy one, get one free' movie promotion," Ms Ravlich said.
The Office for Children and Youth and Movie Masters Cinemas have joined forces to offer Western Australia's young people an exclusive 'two for one' deal.
Young people are invited to download a coupon from the Office for Children and Youth's website at http://www.childrenandyouth.wa.gov.au which allows them to see the movie at all Movie Master Cinemas State-wide on Friday, April 20.
Disney's 'Meet the Robinsons' is the story of an eccentric space-age family from the future and ties in with National Youth Week's 'Launch Yourself' slogan.
Ms Ravlich said the importance of family featured strongly in the movie, together with the strong message to believe in oneself and to keep trying.
"Our young people are our future, and this is reinforced through the themes of the movie," she said.
