Funding for Access31 - Perth's community TV station
18/04/07
Premier Alan Carpenter has today announced $600,000 to secure the future of Access31 - Perth's free-to-air and only licensed community television station.
Mr Carpenter said the one-off State Government funding would ensure the station's ongoing viability and capability toward digital transmission.
"Together with the initial funding of $300,000, this now provides a total package of $900,000 which will ensure Access31's ongoing viability up to June 30, 2009," he said.
"By this time, Access31 should be self-sustainable and have full digital capability, subject to the Federal Government's commitment to Australian community broadcasters."
The Premier said Access31 played an important role in providing employment, training and work experience, support for the Western Australian arts community and as a vehicle for televising ethnic, religious and community-based content.
