Housing and Works Minister Michelle Roberts today officially opened Coolangah Park, a new family recreation area in the heart of Moora.
The State Government provided $30,000 for a shade structure, electric barbecue, electrical infrastructure and play equipment in the park, while the Shire of Moora also contributed $30,000 towards its development.
The Department of Local Government and Regional Development's Community Facilities Fund also provided funding.
Mrs Roberts said that the State Government, through the Department of Housing and Works, contributed to the development of the park because it complemented its 'New Living' urban revitalisation project in Moora.
"'New Living' aims to redevelop older public housing estates to create more attractive living environments, build community pride and lower crime," she said.
"Recreation areas such as Coolangah Park are important tools in achieving this goal."
The Minister said the park was achieved through extensive community consultation.

"The park was designed with the support and advice from the Department for Community Development, Moora's Crime Prevention Strategy group, the Shire of Moora and the Best-Start mothers' group," she said.
"To foster young people's involvement right from the start, students from Moora Primary School and St Joseph's Primary came up with the name Coolangah Park, which appropriately means 'all children's park'.
"Many of the children, under the guiding hand of local artist Richard Apel, will be involved in painting the park's sign."
To date the 'New Living' project has refurbished six homes and sold four in the precinct surrounding the new community park.
