Director of Public Prosecutions lawyer Joe Randazzo has been appointed to the Magistrate's Court of Western Australia.
Attorney General Jim McGinty said 44-year-old Mr Randazzo was an experienced legal practitioner who was highly regarded within the legal profession.
"Prior to his appointment to the Magistrate's Court, Joe Randazzo held a senior position at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions," Mr McGinty said.
"He has also lectured for many years in criminal law at Edith Cowan University and Perth TAFE."
Mr Randazzo graduated from UWA with a Bachelor of Laws in 1986.
After completing articles with the Crown Solicitors Office of Western Australia he worked as an associate to Justice Rowland at the Supreme Court of WA.
Between 1988 and 1992, Mr Randazzo worked at the Crown Solicitors Office, before moving to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in 1992, where he had carriage of prosecution and appeals on behalf of the State.
Mr Randazzo replaces retired Dr Michael King as a full-time magistrate for the Perth metropolitan area.
He will be sworn in on June 11.
