Perpetual Seniors Card means benefits for life
19/5/06
Western Australian Seniors Card holders can now enjoy concessions on State Government services and discounts from a huge variety of businesses for life, without ever having to renew their card.
The new perpetual card, offering all the usual WA Seniors Card benefits, is currently being mailed to all Seniors Card holders. Unlike the old card which had to be renewed every five years, this card does not need to be renewed and therefore does not display an expiry date.
The new card also incorporates the Transperth SmartRider, which grants free travel to seniors on Transperth services on Sundays, public holidays and during Seniors Week (which this year runs from October 22-29), and concession travel at all other times.
Minister for Seniors and Volunteering David Templeman said the new card provided seniors with a valuable tool to access discounts on utility bills, leisure activities and a range of other everyday services for the rest of their lives.
"This new card is extremely convenient, combining all the usual State Government, business and Transwa concessions with the new Transperth SmartRider, which will make it so much easier for seniors to travel around their city," Mr Templeman said.
"The number of services and businesses offering concessions with a Seniors Card is tremendous and I encourage all holders to take full advantage of all the opportunities this card offers."
Holders may continue to use the card as long as they meet the eligibility criteria, which can be obtained by calling the WA Seniors Card Centre on 6217 8855 or country freecall 1800 671 233 or by logging on to the WA Seniors Card website at http://www.seniorscard.wa.gov.au
The website also highlights any new businesses offering discounts to Seniors Card holders, along with any special offers.
A full list of all businesses and Government services offering discounts and concessions will be featured in the Western Australian Seniors Card Discount Directory 2006-2008, which will be mailed to Seniors Card holders State-wide in June.
Seniors Card holders who have not received their new card by June 9 should call the WA Seniors Card Centre on 6217 8855 or country freecall 1800 671 233.
