Successful ballot at Tambrey, Karratha
21/07/06
All 68 lots in Stage Two of LandCorp's Tambrey residential development in Karratha were sold by public ballot today.
Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan said more than 600 people registered their interest in Stage Two and 229 conforming ballots were received by the WA Electoral Commission.
"This sale means a total of 177 lots have now been sold at Tambrey in the past three months to help meet demand in the Pilbara," Ms MacTiernan said.
"This includes land allocations to meet the housing needs of mining employees and essential service providers such as teachers, nurses and doctors.
"The State Government has also reinforced its commitment to releasing appropriately priced land with prices for lots in Stage Two ranging from $135,000 to $147,000."
Settlement of the balloted lots is due 30 days from the issue of titles. Titles are expected in October following the completion of Stage Two site works in August.
Local MLA Fred Riebeling, who drew the ballot, said the State Government, through LandCorp, was working to develop regional land to meet community needs and ease pressure on land availability.
"Planning is well advanced on further residential developments in Karratha, including Nickol West and Baynton West, comprising approximately 400 and 800 lots respectively," Mr Riebeling said.
LandCorp is constructing 150 lots as part of Stage One in Nickol West with the first release of 75 lots scheduled for ballot in late 2006. Civil works are expected to commence next month immediately following the completion of construction at Tambrey.
