Telling Tales' set for Western Australian schools
14/6/07
Twenty inspirational stories featuring professional artists working within school communities has been launched today.
Culture and Arts Minister Sheila McHale said 'Telling Tales: Western Australian Artist-In-Schools Partnerships' had been created to inspire the development of artist-in-schools projects.
The Minister said the partnerships, many from regional WA, were chosen from nearly 80 submissions across WA.
"This work is exciting, inspiring and limitless in its possible applications," Ms McHale said.
"These projects will help young people make the most of their intellectual, creative and personal capacities."
A hard copy of 'Telling Tales' will be provided free-of-charge to each arts organisation and public school in the State.
Both 'Telling Tales' and its companion guide 'Artists in Schools: The ArtsEdge guide for artists and teachers in Western Australia 07-08' will also be available electronically on the ArtsEdge website at http://www.artsedge.dca.wa.gov.au.
'Telling Tales' received funding support from the Department of Education and Training and from the Education and Art Partnership Initiative of the Australia Council, the Australian Government's arts funding and advisory body.
