A three-year trial of daylight saving will begin in Western Australia on Sunday December 3, 2006.
Deputy Premier Eric Ripper today said that from 2am on December 3, clocks would be set forward one hour.
Clocks would be set back one hour from March 25, 2007.
In 2007 and 2008, daylight saving would begin at 2am on the last Sunday in October, and end at 2am on the last Sunday in March the following year.
A referendum would be held in 2009 to decide whether it should become permanent.
Mr Ripper said he was confident that Western Australians would see the advantages of daylight saving.
"I believe daylight saving will enhance our lifestyle and make WA an even more attractive place to live, work and invest," he said.
"Daylight saving, along with liquor reform, is another important step towards modernising WA and maximising our lifestyle opportunities."
The Deputy Premier said that in the days leading up to December 3, advertisements would appear in newspapers and on the radio, informing people of the changes.
More information would be available on the State Government website, http://www.wa.gov.au.
