Sport and Recreation Minister John Kobelke has urged parents to encourage their children to get out and be active during the coming school holidays.
"We all know that our kids are simply not doing enough exercise, and it is time to do something about it," Mr Kobelke said.
"It is important to make exercise a part of everyday life, and these holidays are a great opportunity to kick-start a new and healthy habit."
Parents who want to get their kids more active can find a range of fun, healthy, safe holiday activities on the Department of Sport and Recreation website - http://www.dsr.wa.gov.au
The department is also calling on providers of active holiday fun to contact Kent Burton on 9492 9759 at the Department of Sport and Recreation to add their programs to the list.
"Holidays are the perfect time to turn off the television, shut down the computer and get out there and move," the Minister said.
