Figures released today from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) show Western Australia has the lowest unemployment rate of all the States at 3.1 per cent and significantly lower than the Australian unemployment figure of 4.3 per cent.
The State's unemployment rate dropped from 3.2 per cent last month, while the rest of the country remained steady.
Last month, 3,300 new jobs were created in WA, bringing the State's participation rate to 68.6 per cent - the highest of all the States in Australia.
Employment Protection Minister Michelle Roberts said the figures from the ABS confirmed that the WA economy was still going strong.
"We have maintained consistently low unemployment rates for several months, confirming the State's status as a powerhouse economy," Mrs Roberts said.
"WA continues to lead the country in terms of finding and creating jobs.
"Strong prices and demand for WA's commodity exports have generated substantial increases in export values and rapid growth in business investment.
"Alan Carpenter is making decisions for the future. He is working to ensure our strong economy delivers jobs and opportunities for all Western Australians now and into the future."
