The winners of the 2026 Western Australian State of Energy Export Awards have been announced, with Edith Cowan University taking home the top prize as the 2026 Western Australian State of Energy Exporter of the Year in recognition of its success in attracting international students and supporting jobs across WA's education sector.
The celebration also marked the official launch of the State's new global campaign, State of Energy, which will help attract investment, expand trade opportunities and support job creation in WA.
The Western Australian State of Energy Export Awards recognise the local businesses which are succeeding in international markets and creating employment opportunities for Western Australians.
Since 1988, the awards have celebrated exporters that grow the economy, create local jobs, support skilled careers and showcase the State's strengths on the world stage.
This year, 46 companies applied, with 45 per cent entering the program for the first time.
This strong participation highlights the ambition of WA businesses as they expand into new markets, create jobs, attract investment and contribute to the State's economic strength.
Winners were recognised across 13 categories, ranging from manufacturing to healthcare, with each industry supporting thousands of jobs and demonstrating the breadth of opportunities being created across WA's export economy.
Each category winner will progress to the Australian Export Awards, providing an opportunity to showcase Western Australia's world-class industries, promote local expertise and support future jobs growth by expanding access to national and international markets.
Last year, Western Australian company Premier Metal Recyclers was named the 2025 Australian Exporter of the Year, highlighting the innovation, capability and job-creating potential of the State's manufacturing and sustainability sectors.
The Western Australian State of Energy Export Awards program is managed by Invest and Trade Western Australia.
WA exported $238 billion in goods in the year to June, accounting for 44 per cent of Australia's total goods exports. This strong export performance supports jobs across the State, from regional communities and industrial centres to research institutions, manufacturers and small businesses.
